Organizations Filed Purposes:
OUR PRIMARY GOAL IS TO LESSEN THE IMPACT OF CONVENTIONAL LANDSCAPE PRACTICES ON THE ENVIRONMENT BY PROVIDING HOME GARDENERS, LANDSCAPE PROFESSIONALS, AND LOCAL GOVERNMENTS WITH THE KNOWLEDGE AND RESOURCES TO CREATE BEAUTIFUL, HEALTHY, AND SUSTAINABLE GARDENS AND LANDSCAPES.
To educate about a regenerative whole- systems approach to urban earthscaping that addresses climate change issues: soil health, embodied carbon and potential for drawdown, food-challenged communities, water drought vs. flooding, income-challenged communities.
Rated Landscapes: ReScape Rated Landscapes are certified using a rating system that recognizes excellence in sustainable landscape design, construction and maintenance practices. This voluntary rating system applies to new construction or major renovations of civic, commercial, institutional and multifamily property landscapes. It provides property owners and landscape professionals with a flexible, systematic framework for creating healthy, drought-tolerant and environmentally sound landscapes.
Workforce Development: ReScape California offers workforce development, small business support, public agency relationship development and community development activities. ReScape creates a demand for our work by educating and working with public agencies and municipalities, government entities and communities who hire our 8 Principles professionals who are trained in ReScape policy-driven landscape standards and practices. We partner with industry and non-industry environmental groups, public agencies, sustainability and urban city resiliency departments, workforce development agencies, community colleges, the landscape and AEC Industry (architecture, engineering and construction) and small business associations.
Climate Change. According to the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) we have until 2030 to limit climate change catastrophe. In response to this timeline and call to action, ReScape established the Climate Change Consortium, bringing together scientists, public agencies, organizations, and citizens groups to create Demonstration Projects. Our Demonstration Projects will join partners who are tackling, researching, demonstrating remediation and mitigation to find viable solutions to the climate emergency using ReScape regenerative landscaping principles.
