Organizations Filed Purposes: San Francisco Beautiful's mission is to advocate for quality of life and beauty enhancement issues while supporting neighborhood character and improving livability for residents and visitors.

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, San Francisco Beautiful ("SFB"), as with many other nonprofits, came to a standstill. As we watched the events unfold and many other programs and projects of other organizations get cancelled or eliminated altogether, San Francisco Beautiful made the decision to move forward with Muni Art 2021. We strongly felt that San Francisco needed the optimism of art and poetry during this critically challenging time. We determined that the crisis would not take everything that is beautiful out of the lives of Muni riders and launched Muni Art on schedule in January 2021.SFB proudly launched the sixth year of our signature project, Muni Art. This project started in 2015, is a collaboration between the SFMTA and the Poetry Society of America which introduces the work of five local poets and artists

to over 750,000 Muni riders on 100 public buses from January through April. To date, the project has introduced 30 local artists and 20 local poets to the San Francisco community. For the 48th year, the organization recognized community groups and individuals who have contributed beauty to their neighborhoods. The only event in San Francisco to honor local people and organizations, the Beautification Awards, held on the third Monday in October at the historic Marines Memorial Club, conferred 25 awards and two outstanding community individuals in 2019.Unfortunately due to the crisis of 2020, The Beautification Awards did not move forward. However, we are committed to hosting the event at the Marines Memorial Club in October of 2022 where the 49th event will take place.

This unique event created by San Francisco Beautiful, is the only event in the city that honors neighborhood individuals and groups who have contributed beauty to San Francisco. We cant wait to welcome back the over 100 people who attend the event each year and recognize residents with an award before their friends and neighbors.Since 2015, the organization has proudly collaborated with the Department of Recreation and Parks and the New Community Leadership Foundation to renovate a vital open green space, the Fillmore Turk Mini Park. To date, SFB has lobbied for and received $250,000 towards creating a positive space that children and seniors can enjoy. SFB successfully won a $100,000 Community Challenge Grant to enhance the park project by providing seating, tables and improved lighting in the park. (Continued on Schedule O)
