The mission of the San Francisco Dental Society is to promote the oral health of the community and serve as a recognized resource for dental professionals in the City and County of San Francisco.
To serve the needs and interests of dental professionals in the City & County of San Francisco.
SFDS, which has nearly 1058 active/life members and 775 dental student members, provides excellent training and education in clinical dentistry, mandatory DBC trainings, practice management and related topics. Celebrated our 150th Anniversary with 250 attendees to our Gala Event celebrating the San Francisco dental community. Provided Dental Board of California mandated courses in California Dental Law and Infection Control/Bloodborne Pathogens to 46 dentists and allied dental health professionals and provided Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training to 89 dentists and office staff. Provided continuing education courses using speakers on state-of-the-art dental issues, procedures and products to 127 member and non-member dentists and their dental teams for license renewal. Held four (4) Dental MBA Practice Management Courses for eighty-seven (89) newer dentists.
Community Dental Health Activities. Participate in Bay Area community dental clinics for economically disadvantaged, Project Homeless Connect, CDA Cares, health fairs, Kindergarten School Screening Program 4200 students screened), promote oral health careers in schools, providing over half a million dollars in free dental services to under-served populations. The annual poster contest in its 44th year, with dental health as the subject, for San Francisco kindergarten through 5th grades, with over 1000 students participating extols the importance of good oral health.
Publication of newsletter, The Bridge, sent to approximately 1100 members and allied personnel. Informational contains news regarding proposed and newly instituted laws and regulations, association business, continuing education courses, and community programs. Four issues per year.
