San Francisco Rock Project is a 501(c)(3) non-profit music school dedicated to instilling confidence, inspiring creativity, and celebrating collaboration in a dynamic and supportive environment.
2019 was another exciting year of music education and live performances. San Francisco Rock Project continued to strengthen our partnerships with Livable City and The MIX at SFPL (SF Public Library's teen center). We also worked to strengthen our relationship with the neighborhood organization, the East Cut Community Benefit District, participating in some of their events providing music and sound systems for their guest speakers.We made a change to our membership structure, no longer requiring one-to-one instruction to participate in our collaborative peer projects; one-to-one instruction, of course, remaining a major part of our programming, but removing the requirements opens up collaborative projects to greater number of students and lowers the membership fees for these programs.
In our collaborative live performances, we partnered with a new venue to host our shows; this was a successful run of seven (shows) all open to the public, free of charge. We delivered a very strong set of performances in the Sunday Streets (Livable City) events, of which we played 9 of the 10, all free and open to the public. We have lined up more field trips (schools coming to visit our headquarters) for the second semester of the school year (beginning January 2020), which we are very excited to field and develop a more robust schedule of public and private school visits to our facility; this will give a multitude of students an opportunity to hold a real instrument in their hands.
