Organizations Filed Purposes: TNDC DEVELOPS COMMUNITY AND PROVIDES AFFORDABLE HOUSING AND SERVICES FOR PEOPLE WITH LOW INCOMES IN THE TENDERLOIN AND THROUGHOUT SAN FRANCISCO TO PROMOTE EQUITABLE ACCESS TO OPPORTUNITY AND RESOURCES.

FORMED IN 1981, TNDC PROVIDES AFFORDABLE HOUSING AND SERVICES FOR PEOPLE WITH LOW INCOMES IN THE TENDERLOIN AND THROUGHOUT SAN FRANCISCO, TO PROMOTE EQUITABLE ACCESS TO OPPORTUNITY AND RESOURCES. TNDC FULFILLS ITS MISSION THROUGH: 1) HOUSING DEVELOPMENT CREATES, PRESERVES, AND REHABILITATES AFFORDABLE HOUSING; 2) TENANT & COMMUNITY SERVICES PROVIDES VOLUNTARY SOCIAL SERVICES TO ITS RESIDENTS THROUGH SOCIAL WORK, HEALTH & WELLNESS, QUALITY ASSURANCE, AND TENDERLOIN AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM; 3) PROPERTY MANAGEMENT MAINTAINS AND OVERSEES ALL TNDC PROPERTIES; AND 4) COMMUNITY ORGANIZING REVITALIZES THE NEIGHBORHOOD THROUGH LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT AND LAND USE/PLANNING ACTIVITIES.

AFFORDABLE HOUSING/PROPERTY MANAGEMENT: IN 2019, TNDC PROVIDED HIGH QUALITY PROPERTY MANAGEMENT SERVICES TO 5,800 RESIDENTS; 3,800 OF THOSE RESIDENTS RESPONDED TO OUR ANNUAL SURVEY, WITH 91% RATING THEMSELVES AS "SATISFIED OR "VERY SATISFIED" WITH THEIR BUILDING, THEIR UNIT, AND WITH THE HELPFULNESS OF THEIR PROPERTY MANAGEMENT STAFF.

TENANT & COMMUNITY SERVICES: SOCIAL WORK UNIT: IN 2019, 89% OF RESIDENTS ACCESSED THE SERVICES PROVIDED BY TNDC'S SOCIAL WORKERS. 98% MAINTAINED THEIR HOUSING FOR A MINIMUM OF 12 MONTHS. TNDC'S TENDERLOIN AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM (TASP): TASP PROVIDED A FREE, SAFE, AND SUPPORTIVE PROGRAM TO 235 CHILDREN (AGED 7 TO 18) OFFERING ACADEMIC, RECREATIONAL, SOCIAL, AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES. SIXTEEN TEENS COMPLETED THE TEN-WEEK COLLEGE WORKSHOP AND WENT ON THE COLLEGE TOUR TO CHICAGO. HEALTH & WELLNESS PROGRAM: IN 2019, TNDC'S GARDENS PRODUCED MORE THAN 4,500 POUNDS OF FREE FOOD WHICH WAS DISTRIBUTED TO THE COMMUNITY, AND 374,233 POUNDS OF FREE FOOD WERE GIVEN OUT AT OUR FOOD PANTRIES. WE PROVIDED THREE HEALTHIER LIVING (CHRONIC DISEASE MANAGEMENT) CLASSES, THREE TAI CHI FOR FALL PREVENTION & ARTHRITIS CLASSES, ONE DIABETES EDUCATION EMPOWERMENT WORKSHOP, AND FIVE WALK WITH EASE WORKSHOPS.

HOUSING DEVELOPMENT: 2019 ACHIEVEMENTS INCLUDE: IN 2019, WE COMPLETED CONSTRUCTION OF THE ALEXANDER (REHAB, 179 APARTMENTS FOR 197 SENIOR AND DISABLED RESIDENTS WITH LOW INCOMES); 222 TAYLOR (NEW CONSTRUCTION, 113 APARTMENTS FOR 317 FAMILY RESIDENTS WITH LOW INCOMES, INCLUDING 30 UNITS FOR FORMERLY HOMELESS FAMILIES); AND AVERY LANE, WHICH INCLUDES TWO BUILDINGS THAT ARE PART OF THE TRANSBAY PROJECT (NEW CONSTRUCTION, 150 APARTMENTS FOR 363 FAMILY RESIDENTS, HALF WHICH HAVE LOW INCOMES).
