Organizations Filed Purposes: United Playaz is a violence prevention and youth leadership organization that works with San Francisco youth and young adults from all neighborhoods at schools, community centers, through street outreach, and at San Francisco's Juvenile Justice Center. United Playaz is committed to improving the lives of young people surviving in vulnerable environments and show high incidence of truancy and low academic performance, or have been involved in the juvenile justice system through direct service and community collaboration.

United Playaz is a violence prevention and youth leadership organization providing afterschool programs, workforce development, case management, crisis - response and in-school violence prevention activities.

Other programs at United Playaz are short term projects that consist of annual events such as Gun Buy Backs hosted in collaboration with SFPD whereby we raise private funds to buy back firearms at the cost of $200 for each auto/semi-automatic weapon and $100 for all other firearms. These funds also provide short term youth jobs and pay for speakers to provide presentations to youth about how gun violence has affected themselves, families and communities. Other programs include projects of the SOMA Youth Collaborative with the purpose of serving as the community liaison, coordinating community services for students and families, at our local schools Bessie Carmichael Elementary and Middle School. Coordination efforts focus upon providing ancillary supports to both the schools and their population, and also creating a succinct network of service providers with a shared vision for building the capacity of children and youth services in our ever and rapidly changing community of South of Market.

K-8 & After-School Programs/Youth Center: United Playaz operates a 5400 sq ft youth center at 1038 Howard Street in the South of Market neighborhood in San Francisco. Youth programming takes place daily from 3-7pm for youth from across the city, with a focus upon violence prevention and intervention services and activities such as educational trainings and life skills workshops, homework assistance, credit recovery, and recreational events.

In-School Violence Prevention(includes AfterCare/Re-Entry, Case Management & Specialized Teen): United Playaz provides in-school violence prevention programs through the delivery of workshops, conferences, speaking engagements, weekly student meetings, case management, conflict resolution and alternative recreation activities serving more than 5000 youth each year at multiple and various elementary, middle and high schools across the San Francisco Unified School District.
