WOMEN DONORS NETWORK IS A COMMUNITY WITH A PURPOSE - TOGETHER WE CONNECT, LEARN, AND TAKE ACTION TO FURTHER OUR SHARED VISION OF A BETTER WORLD. WDN BUILDS COMMUNITY AMONG WOMEN DONORS, DEVELOPS INDIVIDUAL WOMEN DONORS TO BE THEIR MOST POWERFUL SELVES, SUPPORTS THE FIELD WITH BEDROCK FUNDING, AND INCUBATES HIGH-IMPACT INITIATIVES THAT CREATE LONG-LASTING CHANGE.
EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS FOR WOMEN PHILANTHROPISTS: THE ORGANIZATION'S EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM ACHIEVEMENTS INCLUDED AN ANTI-RACISM SKILLS-BUILDING RETREAT HELD IN SEATTLE, WA, CALLED "TACKLING WHITENESS," A SPRING RETREAT FOR WOMEN DONORS, HELD IN SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA, REGIONAL GATHERINGS AROUND THE COUNTRY WHERE GROUPS OF WDN MEMBERS AND PROSPECTIVE MEMBERS NETWORKED AND LEARNED TOGETHER; A LEARNING-COHORT MODEL WHERE DONORS HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE THEIR EXPERTISE WITH EACH OTHER AND DEEPEN THEIR LEARNING ABOUT VALUES-BASED INVESTING, GIVING WITH AN INTERSECTIONAL LENS, AND MULTI-GENERATIONAL PHILANTHROPY; AND AN ANNUAL CONFERENCE, "WDN CONNECT: 2019," WHICH WAS HELD IN CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, WHERE 150 WOMEN DONORS GATHERED TO LEARN TO BE MORE EFFECTIVE PHILANTHROPISTS, EXPLORE ISSUES OF RACE, GENDER, AND EQUITY TOGETHER, HEAR FROM AND EXCHANGE IDEAS WITH MOVEMENT LEADERS AND EXPERTS, BUILD COMMUNITY, AND DEVELOP COLLABORATIVE SOCIAL CHANGE STRATEGIES.
GRANTMAKING INITIATIVES: THE ORGANIZATION ISSUED GRANTS THROUGH FIVE FUNDING INITIATIVES IN PURSUIT OF A MORE FAIR, EQUITABLE, AND SUSTAINABLE WORLD IN 2019. THE ORGANIZATION MADE GRANTS TOTALING $4,935,700 TO SUPPORT ORGANIZATIONS FIGHTING FOR WOMEN IN THE WORKPLACE, TO SUPPORT VOTER JUSTICE AND THE INTEGRITY OF OUR ELECTIONS, TO ELEVATE WOMEN OF COLOR AND INDIGENOUS WOMEN IN THE CLIMATE JUSTICE MOVEMENT, AND TO SUPPORT BLACK-LED ORGANIZING THROUGH THE MOVEMENT FOR BLACK LIVES. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO CONTINUED ITS SUPPORT FOR THE EMERGENT FUND, A GRANTMAKING INITIATIVE THE ORGANIZATION CREATED WITH SEVERAL PARTNERS IN 2016, WHICH MADE RAPID-RESPONSE GRANTS, UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF AN ADVISORY COUNCIL OF MOVEMENT LEADERS, TO ORGANIZATIONS WORKING TO DEFEND VULNERABLE COMMUNITIES THAT ARE UNDER ATTACK BY CURRENT FEDERAL POLICIES AND PRIORITES, SO THEY CAN DEFEND THEIR COMMUNITIES AGAINST INJUSTICE AND DEVELOP VISIONARY IDEAS THAT CAN TRANSFORM OUR COUNTRY.
REFLECTIVE DEMOCRACY CAMPAIGN: THE ORGANIZATION CONTINUED ITS REFLECTIVE DEMOCRACY CAMPAIGN TO FORGE A DEMOCRACY WHOSE LEADERS REFLECT THE LIVED EXPERIENCES, DIVERSE BACKGROUNDS, AND DEMOGRAPHICS OF OUR COUNTRY. PROGRAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS INCLUDED ONGOING DEMOGRAPHIC RESEARCH INTO THE RACE AND GENDER OF ELECTED OFFICIALS AT THE NATIONAL, STATE, AND CITY LEVEL, INCLUDING ELECTED PROSECUTORS. THE CAMPAIGN MADE ITS DATA AVAILABLE TO ADVOCATES, THE MEDIA, AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC THROUGH ITS WEBSITE, VIDEO, AND INFOGRAPHICS. THE CAMPAIGN ALSO CONTINUED ITS GATEKEEPER ACCOUNTABILITY PROJECT, FOCUSED ON RESEARCHING, UNDERSTANDING, AND CHALLENGING THE SYSTEM OF POLITICAL GATEKEEPERS THAT PROTECTS THE WHITE-MALE-DOMINATED STATUS QUO, AND MADE GRANTS TO THREE COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS IN TEXAS, MINNESOTA, AND MICHIGAN THAT ARE WORKING TO DEVELOP LEADERS FROM THEIR OWN RANKS TO PURSUE POSITIONS OF PUBLIC LEADERSHIP.
