Organizations Filed Purposes: Fibershed's mission is to provide experiential education that both generates awareness, and teaches the necessary skills within our community to build and sustain a thriving bioregional textile culture that functions hand-in-hand with principles of ecological balance, local economies, and regional organic agriculture.

In 2018, Fibershed added 26 new farms and 11 new artisan members added to the Northern California Producer Program. The first phase of the Integrated Crop and Livestock Systems soil health and carbon sequestration research in partnership with the University of California, Davis was completed. We worked with our partners at the Carbon Cycle Institute to support an assessment of how Carbon Farm Plans completed to date in California provide both a roadmap for and verification of, our state's ability to meet the French Ministry of Agriculture's '4 per 1000' goal for soil carbon improvement to address the threat of global climate change. Fibershed co-created a complete Carbon Farm Plan (CFP) with each of the six cohort members, encompassing a detailed list of goals for each farm, GIS maps and data about each location, current and past management practices, USGS Web Soils Survey data, a discussion of current and planned carbon farm practices with analysis from COMET- Planner, and an appendix with resources. We developed technical and financial models for the California Wool Mill and updated with new visions for processes, machinery, the scale of production, and products. In addition, we co-launched and published a 32-page Synthetic Biology Commodity Brief with the ETC Group.
