Organizations Filed Purposes: The Cashion Cultural Legacy (CCL) is committed to sustaining the preservation, presentation, and education of Mexican folk culture through dance. In honor and recognition of Dr. Susan V. Cashion and her many contributions to the dance world, the CCL pursues this mission by operating a professional Mexican folk dance company, offering accessible classes to the community, sponsoring an artist exchange of dancers, directors, and choreographers between California and Mxico, and researching and documenting the art form.

Cashion Cultural Legacy is dedicated to supporting the presentation and teaching of Mexican dance and artistic culture and documenting and preserving its costumes, choreographies, art and history.

Our adult dance company, Los Lupeos, and our youth ensemble, Los Lupeos Juvenil, rehearse and perform year-round. Rehearsals are held in our studio (via MOU with the nonprofit School of Arts and Culture). The adult group rehearses approximately 9 hours/week and the youth group approximately 6 hours/week. All dancers are volunteers. In FY2020 they were scheduled to perform in 3 self-sponsored stage productions and in multiple productions as guests, but unfortunately 2 of the 3 self-sponsored productions had to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic as well as many of the client-contracted or pro-bono performances at weddings, festivals, corporate parties, etc.Our Academy offers year-round dance classes to the community. In a typical year we offer 4 quarterly sessions of 10-weeks each of 8 to 10 classes each to all ages starting with toddlers up to advanced adults. Through our partnership with the School of Arts and Culture, financial aid is offered to encourage family participation where normally they could not afford extra-curricular activities for their children. In March, 2020 classes were suspended and ultimately the session was completed online. Total students registered for the fiscal year was 358.During FY2020 we scheduled an artist exchange with public workshop and multiple lectures for a visiting master instructor from Morelia, Michoacn, Mxico. Unfortunately due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we had to postpone the artists visit until 2021.
