RSSearch Registry /Publications - this is a database that captures information used for research and publications. This is evolving into a multi-platform database.
RSS SCIENTIFIC MEETINGS AND WORKSHOPS - advances in the applications, technologies and methodologies of radiosurgery and advancing therapies continue to evolve rapidly, creating a need for continual learning. The RSS hosts national and international meetings to disseminate new scientific findings and technical innovations and expand basic knowledge relevant to clinical practice and to the improvement of patient outcomes. The educational elements are targeted at radiation oncologists, surgeons, oncologists of all disciplines, physicists, nurses, therapists, residents, students and other professionals involved in radiosurgery. Attendees receive state-of-the-art practice information relating to radiation and oncology. Embracing the multidisciplinary approach to cancer care is essential to quality care. Research presented from medical and allied professionals enhances the interdisciplinary nature of our programs. Although the 2020 COVID pandemic caused a last minute cancellation of the in person 2020 RSS Scientific Meeting, the RSS was able to offer a virtual Scientific Meeting with over 100 presentations, and continue to offer on line educational resources including webinars, SAMS, and the Dosimetry Plan Library. Through careful management of expenses and staff flexibility, the RSS was able to retain 100% of our staff and consultants without interruption of operations and membership services.
Clinical and Educational Programs - 1. WEBINAR SERIES: This is an ongoing series of educational web-conferences. The sessions are provided live to all and via recording to RSS members. Continuing Education Credits (CE) are awarded to physicians and medical physicists who watch the live sessions. 2. DOSIMETRY PLAN LIBRARY: An online tool used to educate physicians, medical physicists and dosimetrists on SRS and SBRT treatment planning techniques. Example cases are available to members for download so they may practice treatment planning techniques and compare with reference plans created by an expert panel. 3. ONLINE CONTINUING EDUCATION (CE) SELF-ASSESSMENT MODULES (SAMs): This is a library of educational courses on clinical and technical applications of SRS, SBRT and advancing therapies presented by experts in the field(s). Physicians and medical physicists who successfully complete the online course are eligible for CME/CE credit. 4. RSS ONLINE JOURNAL: Dedicated to advancing the science and research of SRS, SBRT and advancing therapies is found within the Cureus Journal of Medical Science (www.cureus.com). The RSS manages the content of the channel, coordinates peer-review submission process and solicits manuscript submissions from RSS members and non-members. All abstract and poster presentation presented at RSS Scientific Meetings are published on the RSS Channel within Cureus. Additionally, the RSS works with the Journal of Neuro-Oncology. 5. NCI GRID, LATTICE, FLASH AND MICROBEAM WORKING GROUPS: Three Working Groups, Clinical, Physics & Biology, meet on a monthly basis to address the clinical and scientific facets of GRID, Lattice, FLASH and Microbeam therapy with the goal of conducting research to advance clinical treatments for patients. 6. RESIDENTS' PROGRAM: Residents and faculty advisors meet monthly to create programs including webinars, workshops, and research projects dedicated to the professional development of residents, students and trainees in the fields of SRS, SBRT and advancing therapies.
