Neighborhood Empowerment took a quantum leap in effectiveness in 2018, as San Jose Parks Foundation created some of the most successful partnerships to date. Working with neighborhood groups, San Jose Parks Foundation helped raise $80,000 for Thousand Oaks Park and $39,000 for the Community Mural Pocket Park. Additionally, San Jose Parks Foundation was involved in a major programming of downtown San Joses Plaza de Cesar Chavez and helped to rebuild Roosevelt Parks Roller Hockey Rink through funding support from the San Jose Sharks Foundation and the NHL.Another key activity throughout the year was the formation of a network of the various partners and allies we work with in the community. City Parks Alliance, a national organization, sponsored a workshop that brought together City staff, volunteers and a few supportive groups. The building of the network will continue through the years ahead.
