Organizations Filed Purposes:
THE MISSION OF THE HILLSDALE HIGH SCHOOL FOUNDATION IS TO PROVIDE FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR HILLSDALE HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAMS THAT UPHOLD THE SCHOOL'S CORNERSTONES (SUCH AS ITS SMALLER LEARNING COMMUNITIES) WHILE EMPOWERING AND ENGAGING ALL STUDENTS. HHS IS A FOUR YEAR COMPREHENSIVE HIGH SCHOOL SERVING APPROXIMATELY 1,350 STUDENTS LARGELY FROM SAN MATEO AND FOSTER CITY, CALIFORNIA. IN ORDER TO REALIZE THIS MISSION, THE FOUNDATION WILL WORK DIRECTLY WITH HILLSDALE HIGH SCHOOL'S SITE COUNCIL TO UNDERSTAND THE SCHOOL'S PRIORITIES. THE FOUNDATION COORDINATES WITH THE SITE COUNCIL AND SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION IN ORDER TO ESTABLISH GOALS FOR FUND-RAISING.
THE HILLSDALE HIGH SCHOOL FOUNDATION (HHSF) PROVIDES FUNDRAISING SUPPORT AND SMALL GRANTS TO A VARIETY OF SCHOOL ORGANIZATIONS. THE HHSF ALSO PROVIDES FUNDING SUPPORT FOR A VARIETY OF ACTIVITIES AND CLASSROOM NEEDS. EXAMPLES INCLUDE:MULTIPLE SCHOOL BOOSTER ORGANIZATIONS: PARENT TEACHER STUDENT ORGANIZATION (PTSO), MUSIC, DANCE, DRAMA AND ATHLETICSTHE EMPOWERMENT THROUGH ACTION PROGRAM (ETA) FOR HIGH RISK STUDENTSTHE PEACE PANTRY WHICH PROVIDES FOOD FOR LOW INCOME STUDENTFUNDING OF CLASSROOM SUPPLIES, TECHNOLOGY UPGRADE, PROFESSIONAL DEVELOMENT, STIPENDS FOR STUDENT SEMINARS, STUDENT CAPSTONE PROJECTS, FILED TRIPS, EVENT AND EXTRA CURRICULAR OPPORTUNITIES.FUNDS ALSO PROVIDE SUPPORT FOR AN ON CAMPUS WELLNESS CENTER, CLASSROOM SUPPLIES, TECHNOLOGY UPGRADES, TEACHER WISH LISTS, PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, STIPENDS STUDENT SEMINARS, FIELD TRIPS, EVENTS AND EXTRA CURRICULAR OPPORTUNITIES.
HHSF PROVIDES FUNDS TO THE SAN MATEO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT (SMUSD) TO SUPPORT THE SMALL LEARNING COMMUNITY MODEL. FUNDS SUPPORT ADVISORY TEACHER SALARIES. THIS YEAR HHSF PAID FOR 2.6 FULL TIME EQUIVALENTS. THE ADVISORY SECTIONS ARE AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE SLC MODEL, AS IT MEETS EVERYDAY TO WORK WITH ALL STUDENTS' DEVELOPMENT INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM. ADVISORS ALSO MEET WITH EACH STUDENT'S GROUP OF CORE TEACHERS REGULARLY TO DISCUSS HOW THEY ARE DOING IN THEIR ACADEMIC CLASSES.
HHSF HAS MADE SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE TO GRADUATING SENIORS BASED ON NEED AND MERIT. STUDENTS ARE SELECTED AS RECIPIENTS FOR THESE AWARDS BASED ON SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY SERVICE
