The mission of the YWCA is to foster the economic self-sufficiency, emotional and physical health of women and girls in a world of peace, racial justice, dignity, freedom and equality for all.
Achievements for the 2017-2018 year include:-Childcare facility Worldtots LA program continued to provide world class childcare from children 6 weeks to 5 years of age.-Continuance of the Encore Plus Mammogram program for people with no insurance for the early detection of breast cancer. -Expanded/reopened the Thrift Store in the basement of the YW Julia Morgan Building. Reorganized and transformed the store as well as incorporated the Cradle Closet and started a voucher program to help those in need.-Racial Justice Committee put on several Human Trafficking awareness events that helped the community become more aware of human trafficking and how to protect their children from being affected.-Partnership with League of Women Voters to help bring non-partisan voting rights and processes to members of the community.-Centennial Celebration held in Novemnber. Elected officials, community leaders, and supporters joined in celebration of the organization and the building which was built by Julia Morgan in 1918.-Board development and strategic plan for the YWCA's next 100 years
