Friends of China Camp,Inc.(FOCC)is the Operator of China Camp State Park.Operation of the park is per a month-to-month agreement with the California Departmentof Parks and Recreation

OPERATION OF CHINA CAMP STATE PARKOperation of the park generates fees for reservation, park use and parking.OPerating expenses include park and trail restoration and maintenance, utility services, equipment and supplies and vendor fees. Employee wages and related payroll costs are the parks biggest expense.We estimate that 2,072 park/trail use reservations were made and that 28,411 other transactions were paid for by the park visitors in 2020. Some visitors purchased multiple services. Camping revenue is reported separately.

CAMPING PROGRAMSCamping programs are offered by volunteer camp hosts who provide education and interpertive information to campers.Firewood sold to campers is recycled from dead and downed trees in the park. Park volunteers split and cut the wood. No wood was purcahsed from outside vendors in 2020.Camping reservations cancelled due to Covid-19 restrictions were deducted from revenue when reserved dates were reached and the grounds were closed due to the Public Health Mandates.We estimate that 2,429 camp reservations were kept and that 3,903 other camping related transactions occurred in 2020.

INTREPRETIVE AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMSFOCC offers intrepretive and educational programs, special events, tours and nature walks, informative signage, operation of a museum, restoration of an historic fishing boat, natural history programs, programs related to coastal ecosystems and provides information services to visitors. Interpretive and educational programs are provided at no cost to visitors.Due to Covid-19 health restrictions, many park events (Heritage Day and Earth Day) and public tours could not be help in 2020. Increased informational signage and use of an informational kiosk were provided to maintain public awareness of the parks history.
