Organizations Filed Purposes: School of Environmental Leadership's mission is to engage students and create community leaders of tomorrow through a multi-disciplinary, project-based high school education with a focus on environmental issues.

Founded in 2011, The School of Environmental Leadership provides high school students with a comprehensive, project-based education with a focus on leadership and environmental issues. Students graduate having worked in small groups on projects addressing real-world issues with environmental professionals, having designed and built a free-standing wooden structure such as a greenhouse or shed in their environmental engineering course, having planned and executed a sustainable business plan, and having completed 90 hours in a community-based internship. By integrated academics, leadership, career skills, project management, and community service, the SEL provides students with preparatory college and work experiences to catalyze their environmental leadership career. The flagship SEL in Marin County, California, has served 277 students since its inception in 2011. SEL students have spent over 100,000 hours volunteering and working on environmental service projects.
