The Homeownership Council of America's mission is to expand economic opportunity for underserved communities through homeownership. We do this by advancing growth in mortgage-lending activity through Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) and preparatory services through HUD-Approved housing counseling agencies. We partner with industry leaders to leverage their capital with local nonprofit capacity, promoting community investments and access to credit. Collaboratively, we build partnerships for sustainable delivery systems that provide vital pathways to prosperity for people of color, low to moderate income, and rural communities.
(CLIMB) Community Lending Initiatives in Mortgage Banking is a technical assistance and capacity building service to with CDFIs and HUD approved housing counseling organizations that work in homeownership services for low income populations and other underserved communities. HCA provides specialized services and industry experience to each organization's leadership to build a model of revenue generation that both meets these organization's missions as well as provides support for operations. These models relieve some of the burden from grant revenue, which can be volatile and not sustainable to fund these vital programs that provide access to credit and preparatory services for low income communities and underserved populations.
