Organizations Filed Purposes: THE ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER CAMPERSHIP FUND WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1969 TO PROVIDE CAMPERSHIP FUNDS AND EXPERIENCES FOR LOW-INCOME, UNDERPRIVILEGED CHILDREN THROUGHOUT ORANGE COUNTY. THROUGH THE PROGRAM, HUNDREDS OF LESS FORTUNATE CHILDREN HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO ATTEND SUMMER CAMP EACH YEAR.

NEWS STORIES ARE PUBLISHED ABOUT THE REGISTER CAMPERSHIP PROGRAM IN THE METRO SECTION OF THE ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER EVERY SUNDAY FROM MEMORIAL DAY TO LABOR DAY. THE READERS SEND MONEY IN TO ASSIST UNDERPRIVILEGED CHILDREN IN ATTENDING A SUMMER CAMP. THE CAMP PROGRAMS SELECTED BY THE REGISTER CAMPERSHIP FUND MUST BE ACCREDITED BY THE AMERICAN CAMPING ASSOCIATION. THESE ORGANIZATIONS SELECT THE CHILDREN THAT WILL ATTEND SUMMER CAMP BASED ON GUIDELINES, INCLUDING FINANCIAL NEED.
