NEW LAW CONFERENCE - HELD EACH YEAR IN FALL/WINTER IN SACRAMENTO TO REVIEW LEGISLATION AND DISCUSS CHANGES CAUSED BY LAWS THAT FREQUENTLY TAKE EFFECT ON JANUARY 1ST OF THE FORTHCOMING YEAR AND WHICH MAY IMPACT THE OPERATIONS OF THE CLERKS AND/OR REGISTRARS.

EXISTING GRANT AWARDED TO THE ASSOCIATION BY THE JAMES T. IRVINE FOUNDATION IN 2014 FOR $295,000 FOR ELECTION COST DATA COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS. GRANT ACTIVITY AND RESULTS ARE COORDINATED THROUGH ASSOCIATION PARTICIPATION IN THE "FUTURE OF CALIFORNIA ELECTIONS" COLLABORATIVE -- A MULTI-DISCIPLINARY CONVENING OF ELECTION ADMINISTRATORS, ADVOCATES AND ACADEMICS. ALL GRANT FUNDS RECEIVED FROM THIS GRANT WERE FULLY EXPENDED BY MAY 2016.LATER IN 2016, ANOTHER GRANT WAS AWARDED BY THE JAMES IRVINE FOUNDATION FOR $115,000 TO SUPPORT ELECTIONS COST DATA COLLECTION FOR THE PURPOSE OF INFORMING FUTURE FIELD PRIORITIES AND SHARING BEST PRACTICES.
