Organizations Filed Purposes:
To build, heal, and restore healthy lives as well as foster healthy life choices.
During 2019, Communities Moving Forward created a pilot program to offering basic program management for residents and clients. The initial step was to address the employment needs of our residents and clients through providing guidance on solid steps towards career choices from assisting them to pair their qualifications and assist them identifying solid structured and ethical companies, and provide them with guidance spanning from building resumes, working with individual strengths and weaknesses, coaching on the interview process, filling out paperwork, and maintaining a positive attitude throughout the process. As Communities Moving forward has identified a strong unmet need within the community we serve for basic life skills, job training, and as well as transitioning into the mainstream, and after we have a proved track record with the program, Communities Moving Forward will expand this program into the community as a whole with the ultimate goal of providing case management for challenged individuals at the agency, city, and County levels. Our 2018 program of integrating both men and women into our housing came to fruition in 2019, and we have successfully established stable and secure housing environments for both men and women. Additionally, our goal that was established at the onset of this project, of not only providing basic housing, yet establishing fully a functional community within each household came to fruition in 2019. The residents function as a team supporting each other in pursuing individual goals while operating at a level of autonomy as a functional household with a strong level of base line life skills as well as functioning and contributing within and to the communities that the residents live in.Communities Moving Forward established a stronger leading role with the back backs for kids program, as well spearheaded the effort to expand the program into the larger community. Back packs for kids as initially started to supply basic schools supplies for children whose parents, and/or guardians were incarcerated, and that program has expanded into the general community by providing school supplies for families in financial need. The next stage of this project will be to partner with local agencies to work with recipient families and providing not only supplies, but expanding into ongoing support in increasing the level of ongoing school attendance throughout the year. In the Autumn of 2019, we identified a large portion of our plant based education programs that were not efficiently meeting the needs of the general market, and cut back on those programs which were not efficiently producing. This will allow for additional resources to be allocated to more relevant and effective education programs as well as allowing resource going directly towards expanding our life skills and program management programs as those programs come to fruition. Additionally, we initiated discussions with specific farms who are tied to educational programs to provide education on home farming as well as life skill and vocational training as part of our skill set development program.
