Organizations Filed Purposes: The mission of The Glendon Association is to save lives and enhance mental health by addressing the social problems of suicide, child abuse, violence, and troubled interpersonal relationships. The Glendon Association currently focuses its work on the following five themes, which we consider to be central to the health and happiness of both the individual and society as a whole:"Violence"Suicide and self-destructive behavior"Intimate Relationships"Parent-Child Relationships"SexualityOur staff reaches out to both the mental health community and the general public through a regular schedule of public presentations and training sessions. Glendon workshops have been conducted at universities, mental health facilities and hospitals throughout the local, national and world communities. Continuing Education Credits are available for most events to participants from a number of professional disciplines including physicians, psychologists, child care providers, MFTs, LCSWs, RNs, and MFCCs. The Glendon Association2019 Program AccomplishmentsPresentationsPresented 2 free Webinars on mental health topics such as What You Can Do To Save a Life from Suicide and Effective Ways to Fight Depression and 9 Continuing Education Webinars for a nominal fee for mental health professionals (with low fee option for non-professionals) on mental health topics such as The Psychological Effects of Emotional Hunger. Over 1630 individuals attended these Webinars.Presented 9 live workshops, locally, nationally and internationally on topics such as Earned Secure Attachment: Helping Clients Rewire their Brains through Creating a Coherent Narrative Approximately 467 individuals, the majority of them mental health professionals, attended these presentations.PublicationsPublished 33 blogs on Psychology Today and PsychAlive on mental health topics such as "Addressing Suicide Risk in Trying Times" and "How Do Adverse Childhood Events Impact Us?." The total number of reads as of September 2020 for Psychology Today blogs weve published is 27,987,571.Robert W Firestones book The Fantasy Bond: Beyond Defenses to Personal Freedom was accepted for publication by American Psychological Association Books. Probable publication date: 2021CommunityDonated over 1500 volunteer consultation and response hours to the Santa Barbara Community and the Santa Barbara Response Network, responding and consulting on critical traumatic incidents of violence and suicide and natural disasters in the Santa Barbara County community.Donated over 800 hours to provide consultation and referrals to at risk individuals and youth and to agencies and schools providing services in person and on-line We presented the following community education and training events:- We were lead agency with the Out of the Darkness Suicide Walk for American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Over 400 people attended - Presented at several local schools and nonprofit agencies on suicide prevention and awareness.- Presented at the meetings in disaster psychological response- Attended meetings of the Community Wellness Team -assisting in responses to crisis in the community- Continued to serve the Mental Advisory Task Force a group responding to the mental health needs of youth in our community - Media interviews addressing mental health issues. Reached thousands of listeners and viewers. - Presented at the law enforcement training -on suicide prevention - Supervised 10 UCSB interns on public education and community outreach Online/New Media - fillOver 900 individuals attended our in-depth online eCourses. Our website www.PsychAlive.org, which offers psychological resources for the general public, reached over 10 million visitors in 2019.Produced and published original content for PsychAlive on myriad psychological topics, including self-development, relationships, parenting, attachment, depression and suicide and violence prevention. FilmFilmed and edited interviews and presentation for the eCourse Love and Connection with Drs. Dan Siegel and Lisa Firestone.Worked on providing many video clips for Dr. Robert Firestones Instagram page throughout the year.Produced numerous video clips for PsychAlive.org to elucidate relevant psychological concepts. These clips are made available to the public at no cost.Prepared video material for many presentations that were given locally, nationally and internationally.Edited a video clip of a suicidal person to illustrate the CAMS safety planning for The Relationship Training Institute.Completed Podcasts on Thankfulness for Thanksgiving. Worked on editing several webinars to improve their presentation.Worked on producing, filming and editing the eCourse on Suicide with Dr. Lisa Firestone. Duplicate in house copies of our 45 DVD programs for sale to the public and the psychology profession.
