NON-COMMUNICABLE DISEASE SURVEILLANCE:WITH FUNDING FROM THE CENTERS FOR DISEASE CONTROL AND PREVENTION,RESEARCH TRIANGLE INSTITUTE (RTI) AND INSTEDD ARE EXPLORING THEFEASIBILITY AND QUALITY OF NEW MODES OF DATA COLLECTION FORNON-COMMUNICABLE DISEASE (NCD) SURVEILLANCE. THESE NEW MODES INCLUDESHORT MESSAGE SERVICE (SMS), INTERACTIVE VOICE RESPONSE (IVR), ANDCOMPUTER-ASSISTED TELEPHONE INTERVIEWING (CATI).
OPIOID RESPONSE PROJECT: THE OPIOID RESPONSE INNOVATION INITIATIVE IS A COLLABORATIVE DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT EFFORT. WITH A CROSS-FUNCTIONAL GROUP OF COMMUNITY HEALTH PROVIDERS, HEALTH AGENCIES, RESEARCH BODIES, AND TECHNOLOGY INNOVATORS, WE ARE WORKING TOGETHER TO IDENTIFY WAYS IN WHICH OPEN SOURCE TECHNOLOGY CAN AID THE OPIOID CRISIS RESPONSE. OUR COLLECTIVE GOAL IS TO IMPROVE HEALTH, SAFETY, AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN COMMUNITIES HEAVILY IMPACTED BY OPIOID USE DISORDER. THE INITIAL DESIGN EFFORTS IN THE PROJECT WILL TAKE PLACE WITH SONORAN PREVENTION WORKS IN ARIZONA AND REGIONAL FAMILY RESOURCE NETWORK IN WEST VIRGINIA. AN ADDITIONAL SIX ORGANIZATIONS FROM AROUND THE UNITED STATES ARE ALSO JOINING THE INITIATIVE TO FORMULATE PROPOSALS AND IDEAS FOR ACTION.
MAAP: THE MAPPING ANTIMICROBIAL RESISTANCE AND ANTIMICROBIAL USE PARTNERSHIP (MAAP) IS A MULTI-ORGANIZATION AND MULTI-NATIONAL COLLABORATION LED BY AFRICAN SOCIETY OF LABORATORY MANAGEMENT THAT SEEKS TO ESTABLISH A SYSTEM FOR THE COLLECTION, STORAGE, AND ANALYSIS OF ANTIMICROBIAL RESISTANCE (AMR) AND ANTIMICROBIAL USE (AMU) DATA ACROSS AFRICA.MAAP IS FUNDED BY THE UK GOVERNMENT'S FLEMING FUND AND FOCUSES ON RESPONSE TO THE GLOBAL THREAT OF AMR WITH THE GOAL OF IMPROVING LABORATORY CAPACITY AND DIAGNOSIS AS WELL AS DATA AND SURVEILLANCE OF AMR THROUGH A 'ONE HEALTH' APPROACH.
