Environmental Education
Energy Efficiency - Since 2004, Ecology Action has completed more than 16,000 energy efficiency projects which save over 581 million kilowatt hours of electricity equivalent to removing 92,589 passenger cars from the road (and their greenhouse gas emissions) for a year. We accomplish this by working with utility and government partners to meet their carbon and pollution reduction goals through designing and delivering cost-effective and comprehensive energy saving programs. We also offer direct assistance to schools, businesses and commercial facilities across the western United States to design energy efficiency and renewable energy projects that reduce carbon emissions and other pollution.
Green Communities-Ecology Action believes in thriving people and planet. We work with communities to promote sustainable transportation, youth pedestrian and bicycle safety, and water conservation programs that make our communities healthier across northern California. We create programs for individuals, professionals and businesses that teach new skills and empower and incentivize individuals to take action for climate through resource conservation. Ecology Action implements programs to help governments and businesses meet their climate action and environmental sustainability goals. Our programs are designed to encourage local commuters, families and youth to reduce single occupancy vehicle trips by safely walking, bicycling and using other sustainable transportation. Our multi-faceted approach addresses key aspects of the transportation sector including electric vehicle promotion and infrastructure, transportation planning, youth safety education and encouragement programs, reduce carbon by less car trips and promote safe bicycling. To date, we have taught over 24,000 local kids to walk or bike safely to school. Additionally, we collaborate with local jurisdictions and agencies to implement the latest technologies and design comprehensive behavior change solutions that have made the Monterey Bay a leader in tackling California's water and waste challenges.
