Project Bike Tech establishes and maintains bicycle education programs for elementary to high school students in Santa Cruz County schools and beyond. The program, which is expanding nationwide, offers a course of study that will help prepare students for college and career.
Bike Tech in School: (1) Project Bike Tech (PBT) has served more than 2,300 students over the last 10 years in California schools. In 2018, PBT expanded in 4 new states (Colorado, Minnesota, Utah and Vermont) and added 5 new schools to reach approximately 400 students each year. (2) The PBT Bike Tech in Schools program provides the curriculum to better prepare students with career technical education, pathways and content. PBT continually improves the course content to help "make" students job-ready in the bicycle industry and in other careers where an understanding of engineering and mathematics is essential to career development. (3) Project Bike Tech has successfully established and maintained bicycle education programs for students in Santa Cruz County CA schools, and 4 new schools (Moab, Utah, St. Paul, Minnesota, Lyndon, Vermont, and Summit, Colorado). The program offers students a CTE course of study to help prepare them for college and their future career while also exposing them to a positive bicycle culture and the ideas for community stewardship (for example, share-the-road knowledge and trail-building skills). PBT advocates green careers and a greener, healthier environment and future.
Expansion: Level 2 and eBike curriculum; apprenticeships, internships, and approved curriculum development to depict steams & core. Expanding into middle schools and jr colleges - creating pathways all while expanding the bike tech class to new schools nation wide.
