Assistance League of Santa Monica is a nonprofit organization comprised of member-volunteers that assists children and families in the Santa Monica Bay Area through a variety of philanthropic programs.
SCHOLARSHIPSOnce a high school graduate is identified as in need of financial assistance, is qualified and accepted for a grant, he or she is carried through all 4 years of college providing they remain in good standing. 37 students received scholarships totaling $100,000.
OPERATION CAMPERSHIP-- Sleep away: The Chapter provided assistance for 74 children to go to summer camp plus 95 to winter science camp. Each camper was supplied with a duffle bag fully outfitted with needs for camping.-- Circle of Friends Campership: The Chapter provided assistance for 25 learning disabled adults to go to day camp.
OPERATION SCHOOL BELLAt the beginning of the school year needy children are outfitted with backpacks filled with a variety of school supplies; 519 backpacks were prepared and delivered this year to 21 schools.We provided 105 vision care visits for students in LAUSD and SMMUSD.ASSISTANCE LEAGUE PUPPETEER21 performances of the puppet shows Playground Bully and Caught in the Middle were presented at 7 SMMUSD and LAUSD schools to approximately 484 students.27 school were served with emergency clothing plus the stewart house rape center also received clothing.
