Community Housing Sonoma County creates supportive housing communities for people living with disabling conditions, especially veterans.
COMMUNITY HOUSING SONOMA COUNTY (CHSC) CREATES HOMES FOR THOSE IN NEED. FOR OVER TWENTY YEARS, CHSC HAS BEEN A LEADER IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF SERVICE ENRICHED HOUSING COMMUNITIES. ORIGINALLY FORMED TO ADDRESS RISING HOMELESSNESS WITHIN SONOMA COUNTY, CHSC IS KNOWN FOR HELPING SOCIAL SERVICE AGENCIES TO BECOME READY TO OWN AND OPERATE THE SUPPORTIVE HOUSING PROPERTIES CHSC DEVELOPS. Since 1994, Community Housing Sonoma County (CHSC) has helped create affordable housing for more than 365 people, has provided supportive housing for 203 people, and has helped leverage over $85 million in financing from local, state, and federal sources. CHSC works collaboratively to respond to the changing needs of the community. Each project CHSC develops is unique, creating different types of rental housing, serving a variety of people with various disabling conditions, using a wide array of financing tools. CHSCs work impacts individual lives, families, and our community infrastructure, health, and safety. CHSC is guided by a small and truly dedicated Board of Directors who are particularly committed to ending veteran homelessness in Sonoma County.IN PROGRESSHEARN VETERANS VILLAGE, SANTA ROSA: 32 UNITS PERMANENT SHARED HOUSING FOR VETERANS. Opened in 2018.ROBINSON House, SEBASTOPOL: 14-BED SOBER LIVING HOME FOR VETERANS EXITING DRUG AND ALCOHOL TREATMENT Facilities. Opened in 2019.HEARN House, SANTA ROSA: 15-BED TRANSITIONAL HOUSING FOR HOMELESS VETERANS. OPENED IN JANUARY 2013.HENRY HOUSE, SANTA ROSA: 4 BEDROOM HUD 811 SHARED HOUSING FOR PEOPLE WITH MENTAL HEALTH CHALLENGES. OPENED IN APRIL 2013. MCMINN AVENUE SHARED HOUSING, SANTA ROSA: 4-PLEX PROPERTY WITH 2 BEDROOMS EACH AS SHARED HOUSING FOR PEOPLE WITH MENTAL HEALTH CHALLENGES. OPENED IN JULY 2013. MILL STREET SUPPORTIVE HOUSING, GUERNEVILLE: DUPLEX PROPERTY WITH 4 BEDS EACH PROVIDING SHARED HOUSING FOR CHRONICALLY HOMELESS INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES. OPENED IN FEBRUARY 2013.
