THE CHOP'S TEEN CLUB MISSION IS TO PROVIDE A SAFE, FUN, AND PRODUCTIVE PLACE WHERE TEENS ENGAGE, CONNECT AND DISCOVER THEIR TRUE POTENTIAL. THE PROGRAM AREAS INCLUDE AN ART STUDIO, RECORDING STUDIO, COMPUTER TECH LOUNGE, COLLEGE AND CAREER HUB, GYMNASIUM WITH CLIMBING WALL, CAFE AND BARISTA STATION, STAGE AND DANCE FLOOR, AND A COMMERCIALLY GRADED KITCHEN.
TO PROVIDE A SAFE AND FUN PLACE FOR TEENS TO BE MENTORED BY STAFF AND CONNECT WITH FRIENDS.
CHOP'S TEEN CLUB HAS BEEN OPEN AND SERVING TEENS SINCE OCTOBER 2001. CHOP'S IS A PREVENTION BASED ORGANIZATION THAT IS OPEN OPPOSITE OF SCHOOL HOURS TO GIVE TEENS ENRICHING EXPERIENCES AND OPPORTUNITIES WHEN THEY ARE NOT IN SCHOOL.OUR STATE OF THE ART 21,000 SQUARE FOOT FACILITY HOUSES A GYMNASIUM, CLIMBING WALL, TECH LOUNGE, ART STUDIO, SOUND RECORDING STUDIO, CAF, NIGHTCLUB, TEACHING KITCHEN, COLLEGE AND CAREER HUB, AND MULTI-USE SPACE DESIGNED WITH INTERESTS OF TEENS IN MIND.CHOP'S IS A UNIQUE RESOURCE IN THE COMMUNITY THAT PROVIDES ACTIVITIES AND SERVICES SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED TO MEET THE CHANGING INTERESTS AND NEEDS OF SONOMA COUNTY TEENS. MEMBERSHIP IS OPEN TO TEENS IN GRADES 7-12. WE ARE AN AFTER SCHOOL AND SATURDAY DROP-IN PROGRAM FOR TEENS THAT FOCUSES ON RESPECT FOR SELF AND OTHERS AND ON DEVELOPING A SENSE OF BELONGING. CHOP'S PROVIDES A SAFE PLACE FOR TEENS TO CONNECT WITH FRIENDS AND BE MENTORED BY STAFF, AS WELL AS PARTICIPATE IN ACTIVITIES SUCH AS, BASKETBALL, VOLLEYBALL, ART, SEWING, BILLIARDS, PING PONG, THE TECH LOUNGE, HOMEWORK SUPPORT, MUSIC, BOARD GAMES AND MORE. THESE PROGRAMS ARE PROVIDED ON AN INTEREST AND FREE-CHOICE BASIS, ALLOWING TEENS TO EITHER PARTICIPATE IN THE DAILY ACTIVITIES PLANNED BY STAFF OR DEVELOP THEIR OWN ACTIVITY.MENTORSHIP IS THE FOUNDATION OF THE CRITICAL WORK THAT HAPPENS WITH TEENS AT CHOP'S TEEN CLUB. OUR STAFF MENTORS ENGAGE YOUTH TO UNDERSTAND ALL ASPECTS OF THEIR LIVES AND INTERESTS. THEY VALUE YOUNG PEOPLE'S IDEAS AND HONOR THEIR CHANGING FEELINGS AND MOODS. THROUGH MENTORING AND MODELING OF POSITIVE BEHAVIORS, TEENS ARE ENGAGED AND INSPIRED TO REACH A HIGHER STANDARD OF EXCELLENCE ON A DAILY BASIS. THROUGHOUT ALL OF OUR PROGRAMS, OUR GOAL IS TO HELP OUR TEEN MEMBERS SEE ALL THE POSSIBILITIES AVAILABLE TO THEM SO THAT THEY MAY ACHIEVE FUTURE SUCCESS. PROGRAMS ARE DEVELOPED TO ACKNOWLEDGE TEEN MEMBER STRENGTHS, TALENTS, AND GIFTS AND FIND OPPORTUNITIES TO USE THEM. ADDITIONALLY OUR PROGRAMS TEACH TRANSFERABLE LIFE SKILLS THAT HELP TEENS TRANSITION SUCCESSFULLY TO ADULTHOOD.
