Organizations Filed Purposes: Inspiring wildlife advocacy through education, research and conservancy

In 2019, the Safari West Wildlife Foundation surpassed the mark of providing hands-on experiential learning for over 11,000 youth and children, including thousands from underserved communities. The Discover Africa program provides students with an opportunity to see and experience the animals up close and personal. At the same time enjoy the experience of riding in an open vehicle across vast space to find the animals in their natural habitats.

Junior Keepers program, a ten-month long, weekly program, has inspired hundreds of youth to understand about animal conservation and to appreciate and care for animals of all sizes, from avian to large hoofstock. Over the years, the Junior Keeper program, as well as internships at Safar West, have steered several youth to follow academic or career paths in animal welfare and care. The video about the Junior Keeper program provides some examples of those success stories.

The Camp Nykia, in its 2nd year, provided weeks of educating youth about animal conservation, welfare and husbandry, physical hiking, African cultural teachings, and how to pursue an academic and/or career path in animal or environmental conservation. Camps, like the Junior Keepers programs, are taught by Certified South African Guides, teachers and counselors.
