SHARE Sonoma County is dedicated to enhancing the health, wellness and dignity of those wishing to age in place, matched with those in need of permanent housing, creating community for all.
SHARE Sonoma County provides affordable and attainable housing to help seniors age in place. Home Shares are living arrangements between two or more unrelated people, one of whom is 60 years of age or older, who agree to share a home or apartment for their mutual benefit. Each person has their own bedroom, and possibly bathroom, while they share common living areas. SHARE (Shared Housing And Resource Exchange) facilitates home shares for homeowners and renters who are having financial challenges, experiencing difficult life transitions, are looking for companionship, or need assistance to help them remain safely at home (a service exchange). Many home seekers are at risk of homelessness or have experienced periods of homelessness.In 2018-19 SHARE served 238 unduplicated households. 174 qualified as extremely low income; 43 as very low income, 16 as low income, while 5 were moderate income households. As to achieving goals set at the beginning of this fiscal year, 103 unduplicated home seekers found affordable housing through our programan 80% increase over our goal of 75 home seekers. 135 unduplicated home providers remained at home because of successful matches with home seekers, our original goal for this population.
