Organizations Filed Purposes:
TO SUPPORT SONOMA COUNTY'S ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BOARD PROGRAMS
Creative Sonoma, In late October 2018, Creative Sonoma prepared, organized, and implemented a Phase 2 of the Arts and Trauma Residency program in Sonoma County schools with funding from the Sonoma County Office of Education, Foundations and other sources. The program selected 26 teaching artists representing different art genres. The artists underwent intensive training covering topics on indentifying and recognizing trauma and understanding its effects, particularly on students. These teaching artists provided over 276 hours of much needed service to various schools in Sonoma County impacted by the 2017 and the 2019 West County floods.
COMMUNITY SUPPORTDURING THE YEAR THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BOARD SUPPORTED AND FUNDED VARIOUS PROJECTS IN THE COMMUNITY. THIS INCLUDED SUPPORT FOR NEW AND INNOVATIVE IDEAS THAT ENGAGED THE UNDERSERVED STUDENTS OF SONOMA COUNTY BY PROVIDING ACCESS TO HIGH-QUALITY EDUCATION; SUPPORTED CREATIVE INDIVIDUALS WHO SUFFERED PHYSICAL LOSS OR PERSONAL DAMAGE IN THE 2017 AND 2019 WEST COUNTY FLOODS; PROJECTS OF A SHORT TERM NATURE THAT WERE CREATIVE EXPERIENCES, INSTALLATIONS, OR OBJECTS THAT WERE ACCESSIBLE OR LOCATED IN PUBLIC PLACES; PROJECTS BENEFITTING LOCAL MUSICIANS AND BANDS.
The State of the County:- The State of the County is an annual event sponsored by the Economic Development Board (EDB) to present the current and future challenges facing the county in terms of growth and development, especially post-2017 wildfires. It was an opportunity for the County of Sonoma to showcase recovery efforts and what to expect in the upcoming year as recovery efforts continue. Attendance included over 550 people at this 16th annual breakfast.
