The mission of the United Way of the Wine Country is to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of our community through leadership, community engagement and effective investment.
UWWC is committed to create lasting changes by addressing the underlying cause of problems.
1. 227 Earn It! Keep It! Save It! volunteers processed 6557 tax returns resulting in $2.7 million federal EITC and $9 million total tax refunds across 5 counties2. Schools of Hope served 530 students, tutored by 485 volunteers in 35 schools in Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake counties3. 6,248 people saved $411,742on prescription drugs through our promotion of FamilyWize across 5 counties4. 4800 children ages 3-5 received School Readiness Backpacks in Sonoma, Lake, Del Norte and Humboldt Counties5. 1,000 children ages 5-8 received Summer Reading Packs containing six books each in Sonoma County
United Way of the Wine Country delivered designated donations to 537 501c3 agencies in accordance to the wishes of 6,857 individuals.
United Way's funding for local community service programs delivered the following measurable results:1. Residents of Sonoma, and Humboldt Counties were connected to health and human resources through the 2-1-1 call centers over 25,000 times.2. 29 households received funding to fully recover from the 2017 fires trhough ROC Sonoma and ROC Mendocino. 3. Forty-seven first responders, who lost homes in the 2017 fires, received fire recovery grants. 4. Ten neighborhoods were supported in their fire recovery through projects such as fence rebuilding, storage sheds an convening costs. 5. More than 565 flood impacted individuals assisted.
