Organizations Filed Purposes:
To eliminate homelessness in Monterey and San Benito Counties by promoting interagency coordination to develop and sustain a comprehensive system of housing and support services designed to maximize the self-sufficiency of individuals and families.
As the Continuum of Care Coordinator for Monterey and San Benito counties, the Coalition of Homeless Services Providers continues to facilitate efforts to end homelessness, such as the successful application for the Homeless Emergency Aid Program (HEAP), which brought in $12.5m into the community, and the annual renewal of federal funding for homeless housing projects. These funds will assist with addressing the ever-growing homeless crisis of California. CHSP also administers the HUD-mandated Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) and the local implementation of the Coordinated Entry System (CES). CHSP contracted with Focus Strategies to perform an assessment on the effectiveness of homeless services and to build a strategic plan to end homelessness using data from both HMIS and CES to establish baseline thresholds and means to evaluate the homeless system's performance towards meeting established goals.
