Organizations Filed Purposes: TO ATTRACT OUTSIDE INVESTMENT INTO THE STOCKTON COMMUNITY AND TO INVEST IN COLLECTIVE IMPACT STRATEGIES WITH TANGIBLE OUTCOMES THAT IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE IN THE CITY OF STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA.

TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR THE RESIDENTS OF THE CITY OF STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA, AND TO RE-CREATE STOCKTON INTO A COMMUNITY OF OPPORTUNITY AND HOPE FOR ITS CITIZENS, ESPECIALLY ITS YOUTH, THROUGH THE SPONSORSHIP AND FUNDING OF PROGRAMS SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED TO PROMOTE THE REDEVELOPMENT OF THE BLIGHTED AREAS OF, AND TO ATTRACT OUTSIDE INVESTMENT INTO, THE STOCKTON COMMUNITY.

THE STOCKTON SERVICE CORPS IS A FIRST-OF-ITS-KIND AMERICORPS INITIATIVE TO ENGAGE UP TO 100 SERVICE FELLOWS IN SUPPORTING STUDENTS AT SOME OF THE MOST NEEDY SCHOOLS IN OUR COMMUNITY. OVER THE COURSE OF A YEAR, FELLOWS WILL PROVIDE ADDITIONAL READING AND WRITING TUTORING, PROMOTE RESTORATIVE JUSTICE AND SOCIO-EMOTIONAL WELLNESS, AND THEY WILL MENTOR YOUNG PEOPLE, PARTICULARLY FIRST GENERATION STUDENTS, AS THEY NAVIGATE HIGH SCHOOL AND TRANSITION TO AND THROUGH COLLEGE.

THE STOCKTON EMPOWERMENT DEMONSTRATION (SEED) WAS BORN OUT OF THE SIMPLE BELIEF THAT THE BEST INVESTMENTS WE CAN MAKE ARE IN OUR PEOPLE. IN FEBRUARY 2019, WE BEGAN GIVING 125 STOCKTONIANS A GUARANTEED INCOME OF $500/MONTH FOR 18 MONTHS. THIS INCOME IS UNCONDITIONAL, MEANING THERE ARE NO STRINGS ATTACHED AND NO WORK REQUIREMENTS. A HAND UP, RATHER THAN A HAND OUT, SEED SEEKS TO EMPOWER ITS RECIPIENTS FINANCIALLY AND TO PROVE TO SUPPORTERS AND SKEPTICS ALIKE THAT POVERTY RESULTS FROM A LACK OF CASH, NOT CHARACTER.

STOCKTON SCHOLARS IS A PLACE-BASED EDUCATIONAL GRANT FOR GRADUATES OF STOCKTON UNIFIED HIGH SCHOOLS TO HELP THEM AFFORD COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY. STARTING WITH THE GRADUATING CLASS OF 2019, THE STOCKTON SCHOLARS PROGRAM WILL PROVIDE EVERY STUDENT GOING ON TO A 4-YEAR UNIVERSITY WITH $1,000 A YEAR, FOR A MAXIMUM OF 4 YEARS. EVERY STUDENT GOING TO A COMMUNITY COLLEGE, OR TO A QUALIFYING TRADE PROGRAM, WILL RECEIVE $500 A YEAR, FOR A MAXIMUM OF 2 YEARS. STUDENTS WHO RECEIVE AN ASSOCIATE DEGREE AT A COMMUNITY COLLEGE AND THEN TRANSFER TO A 4-YEAR UNIVERSITY WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR AN ADDITIONAL $1,000 A YEAR FOR 2 YEARS WHILE THEY PURSUE THEIR BACHELOR DEGREE. THIS MONEY MAY BE USED FOR FEES OR TUITION, AND IS DISTRIBUTED EITHER TO THE STUDENTS THEMSELVES OR DIRECTLY TO THE FINANCIAL AID OFFICE OF THE INSTITUTION THAT THE STUDENT WILL BE ATTENDING. IN 2019, THE REINVENT STOCKTON FOUNDATION AWARDED 879 SCHOLARSHIPS.
