Experience, was held in Post Falls, ID at the Ross Point Camp & Conference Center the first week of June, 2018. In keeping with the Institute's mission and values, over 158 students, faculty and private practitioners attended the event in order to learn the leadership skills necessary to move the veterinary profession forward. Two students and one faculty member from almost all the North American Veterinary schools, including Canada, as well as students from 2 schools in New Zealand were able to attend at no cost. Several private practitioners were also able to attend, paying only a nominal registration fee Over the course of the week, program participants were involved with lecture, small group activities and numerous facilitated conversations associated with personal leadership development. These activities were led by a group of facilitators who were handpicked from previous events and who received training throughout the year leading up to the event. Because our program is geared toward veterinary professionals, it is critical that the group facilitators also be veterinary professionals who also have training in leadership development and facilitation skills. The Veterinary Leadership Institute's primary program, the Veterinary Leadership Overall, the bulk of our budget is used to develop program content and put on this week-long program. In addition, some funds are used to train the facilitators in the months leading up to the event so they are ready to deliver the content during the week.
