Organizations Filed Purposes:
THE TRUCKEE RIVER WATERSHED COUNCIL WAS FOUNDED TO IMPLEMENT LOCALLY DEVELOPED PUBLIC-PRIVATE COLLABORATIVE SOLUTIONS TO PROTECT AND IMPROVE WATER QUALITY AND BIOLOGICAL RESOURCES FOR THE SUSTAINABLE ENVIRONMENTAL AND ECONOMIC HEALTH OF THE TRUCKEE RIVER WATERSHED.
Restoration: Large-scale restoration projects took place at Sagehen Fen, Johnson Canyon West, Perazzo Meadows, Dry Creek Meadows, McIver Dairy Meadow, and the Martis Wildlife Area. On Truckee River Day, 450 volunteers participated in 9 restoration projects in the Truckee River watershed on the Truckee, in Johnson Canyon, Saghen Creek, Squaw Creek, Tahoe Donner, Alder Creek, and at Truckee Meadows (Town of Truckee).
Watershed Issues Forum, Education, and Outreach. We held on site tours and River Talks about our projects and programs about two times a month. We did outreach and education at community events such as Earth Day, Truckee Day, and Special Districts Community Block Parties.
Truckee River Watershed Planning. We brought stakeholders together to coordinate watershed management and planning. For example, Prosser Basin Assessment, Lacey Meadows Restoration, Sardine Meadows Restoration, Bear Creek Lower Meadow Restoration, and Coldstream Canyon Restoration.
