Organizations Filed Purposes:
The mission of Zawadisha is to provide small loans to rural Kenyan women to finance their livelihoods. We provide the financing and distribution of solar lamps, rain water tanks, and clean cookstoves. We follow up with leadership and financial literacy training to maximize the impact of these loans.
This year, Zawadisha's operations were severely impacted by COVID-19 and its ripple effects. Even with reduced opportunity and capacity, we were able to remain mission focused. We planted 400 trees, provided 479 microloans to the community, and trained 412 women on record keeping and on creating kitchen gardens. We also distributed nearly 3,700 integral household items, including iron sheets, water tanks, stoves, mattresses, solar lamps, TVs, and radios, and other furniture and essential appliances.
