They often use drugs and alcohol to self medicate. Adequate counseling can average $150/hour which poses a significant burden to low to moderate income households. Laurel House seeks funds from the community to connect the teen with the counseling she needs.
The live-in house parent of Laurel House provides case management and ongoing supervision and support to runaway, homeless and troubled teen girls. She coordinates school enrollment, Individualized Education Plans as needed, and works closely with the local schools on each girl's individual needs. She also coordinates the mental health treatment plan for each resident. She meets regularly with the teen girls on their behavioral contracts and goals. The House Parent lives in the Laurel House with her husband, who is a Police Officer with the Tustin Police Department. Together they provide a nurturing, family atmosphere to the teen girls living in the home.
