Organizations Filed Purposes:
Friends of Reed is formed for the purpose of enhancing opportunity and education for the students, staff, and families of Walter Reed Middle School in the Los Angeles Unified School District, including the small learning communities (SLCs) of Technology, Culinary, Environmental, Humanities, IHP, et al., by raising and disbursing funds to enrich the class and campus learning experience, including without limitation providing equipment, staffing, and funding other related matters of development.
Program Service accomplishments for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2012 included providing subsidies to fund teacher staffing costs not funded through the Los Angeles Unified School District due to funding constraints, funding campus wide technology needs, funding the Smaller Learning Communities needs of the school such as teacher stipends for supplies, the Art department, and certain administrative costs such as insurance for events on campus, printing, and repairs and maintenance.
