THE BAIL PROJECT IS A NATIONAL NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION THAT PAYS BAIL FOR PEOPLE IN NEED, REUNITING FAMILIES AND RESTORING THE PRESUMPTION OF INNOCENCE. The Bail Project is a national nonprofit organization that pays bail for people in need, reuniting families and restoring the presumption of innocence.
In FY20, The Bail Project, Inc. marked three years of expansion with ongoing bailout operations in more than 20 jurisdictions across America and nearly 12,000 individuals helped. Working with over 140 local partners across its sites to connect clients to voluntary social services and resources upon release, The Bail Projects community-based teams posted over $15.8 million in bail assistance and provided court notifications and other support to help clients make nearly 16,000 court appearances in FY20 alone. In addition to further demonstrating its model of Community Release with Support, the organization released its policy roadmap, "After Cash Bail," outlining five principles to guide pretrial reform beyond the elimination of cash bail.
