Art Tour-Experience the art of Oaxaca, Mexico. Participants traveled to the city of Oaxaca, Mexico and the small village of Teotitaln del Valle home of FOTM documented artist Porfirio Gutierrez, for a unique exploration of the Zapotec culture, community and traditions during month of February and during annual dia de los Muertos, The Day of the Dead. Tour goers experienced the indigenous traditions including honoring ancestors, create cultural connections, and explore Oaxaca's artistic diversity. They experienced life today in Teotitaln del Valle and neighboring towns, they visted artist studios and historic sites, shared meals and participated in the festival preparations along with our host family. We explored Zapotec heritage and history, anc consider how modern Zapotec identity is shaped by centuries-old customs.
