To empower every Club member, through safe and impactful experiences to: graduate high school with a plan for college or a career, contribute to their community, and live a healthy life.
We are focused on meeting the needs of our community serving boys and girls ages 5-18 primarily from struggling families by offering year-round youth development programs at 6 sites with a focus on academic success, character and citizenship development, and healthy lifestyles.
The Boys & Girls Club of Vista (BGCV) follows the mantra of when school is out, the Club is in and since 1963 is devoted to impacting a childhood for all kids ages 5-18. With 5 locations in Vista & Oceanside, the Club serves over 1,100 registered Club members annually and impacts over 3,300 youth served a year. While part of a national organization, BGCV is independent and is 100% donor supported by the community. BGCV is open when families need us most after school, on most school holidays and during the summer and does whatever it takes to give kids hope for a great future. It's no surprise that 54% of Club alumni surveyed nationally say the Club actually saved their life. BGCV provides a safe place to learn new skills and explore opportunities, develop ongoing relationships with caring adult professionals and experience life-enhancing programs and character leadership experiences. BGCV believes that every kid should graduate high school on time, college or career-ready with the skills they need to succeed in today's globally competitive workforce. BGCV partners with youth, parents, schools and other community stakeholders to implement three approaches: academic enrichment and school engagement, targeted dropout prevention, and intensive intervention and case management. Academic programs such as STEAM, Project Learn and Career Launch are designed to ensure that all Club members succeed in school and are ready are ready for a college or a career. Brain Gain aligns day camps with fun, themed modules with common core anchor standards that helps decrease out school learning loss which dramatically increases for kids from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Art and music programs are designed to foster creativity in young people and give them outlets for self-expression and build self-confidence. 97% of BGCV Club members expect to graduate high school.BGCV helps kids become responsible, engaged citizens and resilient leaders. Through our programming, Club members develop leadership skills, contribute to the Clubs and their community, and improve decision-making and planning skills. SMART Moves is an asset building gang prevention program that provides positive mentors to help kids become responsible, caring citizens focusing on decision-making and building self-esteem while making a difference to the community. 63% of BGCV teens volunteer monthly in the community. A future generation of active citizens begins healthy lifestyles by building healthy habits in our kids. Club programs help develop daily fitness, a positive use of leisure time, reduction of stress, appreciation for the environment and interpersonal skills. Project FUN provides daily fitness and wellness programs that increase daily physical activity, gain nutritional education and how to develop healthy relationships in life. Recreational and competitive co-ed sports include basketball, volleyball, soccer, flag football and cross country. 69% of BGCV Club members are physically active at least five days a week.BGCV provides programs that address today's most pressing youth issues teaching young people the skills they need to succeed in life. Our programs have taken members from the games room to the corporate board room, from the art room to a design career and from the computer lab to the science lab.
