The Ruth Bancroft Garden is a foremost example of the art of garden design with drought-tolerant plants, and it is known as one of the finest dry gardens in the world. See additional information on Schedule O.
The mission of the Ruth Bancroft Gardens is to preserve this exceptional example of garden design and to continue to develop its collection of water-conserving plants for the education and enjoyment of the public.
The Garden is open for tours, events and plant sales. There are about 10,000 visitors annually. The Garden offers a two-hour field trip program that meets the California curriculum standards of third grade. The Garden also offers an array of workshops, classes and seminars for the home gardener and horticultural/green industry professional. These programs serve over 1,000 adults and local school children.
