Organizations Filed Purposes:
Our mission is to improve human civilizations long-term prospects for survival and flourishing. Currently, our main strategy is to take on ethical and legal responsibility, as a collaborator, for projects deemed to be important for reducing existential risk. These projects mostly revolve around reducing risk from technologies that may pose significant civilization-scale dangers, as determined by research collaborators who have adopted existential risk reduction as both their primary career ambition and their primary area of intellectual focus.

Grants Program - We investigated and funded organizations and individuals working on existential risk reduction. Conducted investigations and awarded $2.5 MM in grants to 4 organizations. Continued to administer project grants awarded in 2018, as well as awarding $113k in follow-up grants to 4 individuals.
Collaborations Program - We collaborated with research groups at the Universities of Oxford, Cambridge, and UC Berkeley, providing funding and services to support growth of the field of existential risk research.
Other Program Accomplishments - Supporting the reduction of existential risk through the Bay Area X-risk Community Initiative, BERI Support Fund, X-risk Ecosystem software, and other small projects.
