COPA ALSO PROVIDES STRATEGIES AND RESOURCES FOR INSTITUTIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND STRATEGIC PLANNING PROCESSES FOR MEMBER INSTITUTIONS.In August of 2017, COPA launched a year-long training/mentoring program with the Catholic Diocese of Monterey whereby COPAs lead organizer would work with candidates for the diaconate to develop their capacity to build meaningful relationships and work to address social concerns in their parishes. In April of 2018, COPA organized a conversation on immigration with 100 business and religious leaders, who came together to discuss immigrations impacts on the region and committed to working together for system improvements. In June of 2018, COPA leaders embarked on a strategy to organize a Convention in the fall to celebrate COPAs 15 year anniversary. The goal is to bring together close to 1,000 people from COPAs member institutions, and to lift up strategies on healthcare access, affordable housing, behavioral health and immigration. During the 2017-18 fiscal year, COPA trained close to 200 leaders in relational organizing through the following formats: leaders retreats, delegates assemblies, house meeting workshops and civic academies.
