Organizations Filed Purposes: SPIRITT FAMILY SERVICES IS A NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION THAT SINCE 1972 HAS BEEN WORKING WITH LOW INCOME FAMILIES. IT PROVIDES SEVERAL PREVENTION/EARLY INTERVENTION, TREATMENT AND RECOVERY PROGRAMS. ALL SERVICES ARE PROVIDED FOR CHILDREN/ADOLESCENTS/YOUNG ADULTS AND FAMILIES ARE STRENGTH-BASED AND SOLUTION-FOCUSED. SERVICES EMPHASIZE FAMILY INVOLVEMENT TO PRODUCE LONGER AND MORE EFFECTIVE POSITIVE OUTCOMES.

EDUCATIONAL, SOCIAL WELFARE ORGANIZATION

THE MENTAL HEALTH PROGRAM PROVIDES SERVICES TO CHILDREN AGES 2 TO 21 AND THEIR FAMILIES IN ORDER TO REDUCE MENTAL DISABILITY AND RELATED PROBLEMS. OUR GOAL IS TO HELP RESTORE OR MAINTAIN THE INDIVIDUAL AND FAMILY FUNCTIONING REQUIRED FOR LEARNING, DEVELOPMENT, INDEPENDENT LIVING AND IMPROVED SELF-SUFFICIENCY. MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES PROVIDED INCLUDE ASSESSMENTS, CASE MANAGEMENT, CRISIS INTERVENTION, MEDICATION SUPPORT, PEER SUPPORT AND OTHER REHABILITATIVE SERVICES. SERVICES ARE PROVIDED IN MULTIPLE SETTINGS INCLUDING AGENCY'S CENTERS, SCHOOLS, AND IN THE HOME. SPECIAL EMPHASIS IS PLACED ON ADDRESSING CO-OCCURRING MENTAL HEALTH DISORDERS AND OTHER HEALTH PROBLEMS SUCH AS ADDICTION.

CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION SERVICES - THIS AGENCY PROVIDES CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION PROGRAMS THAT FOCUS ON FAMILY PRESERVATION AS WELL AS FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICES IN THE WHITTIER/SANTA FE SPRINGS AND THE GREATER LA PUENTE AREA OF LOS ANGELES COUNTY. THE OBJECTIVE OF THESE PROGRAMS IS TO PROVIDE INTENSIVE IN-HOME SERVICES TO STRENGTHEN FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN WHO COME TO THE ATTENTION OF THE DEPT. OF CHILDREN AND FAMILY SERVICES AND ARE REFERRED TO AGENCIES SUCH AS SPIRITT AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO FOSTER CARE PLACEMENT WHEN IT IS DEEMED SAFE TO LEAVE THEM IN THEIR OWN HOMES. FAMILIES ARE PROVIDED WITH IN-HOME COUNSELING AND CASE MANAGEMENT, BASIC NECESSITIES, PARENTING SKILLS, AS WELL AS A VARIETY OF ACTIVITIES THAT PROMOTE STRENGTHENING AND BONDING OF THE FAMILY UNIT. SPIRITT ALSO WORKS WITH FAMILIES WHO ARE IN THE PROCESS OF REUNIFICATION WITH THEIR CHILDREN WHO HAVE BEEN PLACED IN FOSTER CARE.

THE PARTNERSHIP FOR FAMILIES PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO WORK WITH FAMILIES SPECIFICALLY REFERRED BY THE DEPT. OF CHILDREN AND FAMILY SERVICES WHO HAVE CHILDREN AGES FIVE AND UNDER, AS WELL AS PREGNANT WOMEN WHO ARE AT-RISK FOR CHILD MALTREATMENT DUE TO MATERNAL DEPRESSION, DRUG AND ALCOHOL ABUSE, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND YOUNG MATERNAL AGE TEEN MOTHERS. THIS PROGRAM FOCUSES ON WORKING WITH PARENTS/CAREGIVERS AND THEIR CHILDREN TO IMPROVE THEIR WELL-BEING EMOTIONALLY, SOCIALLY, PHYSICALLY, MENTALLY AND ECONOMICALLY. THROUGH COMMUNITY COLLABORATIVE EFFORTS, THE PROGRAM AIMS TO SUPPORT THE HEALTHY DEVELOPMENT OF CHILDREN BY WORKING TO STRENGTHEN FAMILIES, ONE NEIGHBORHOOD AT A TIME.
