Organizations Filed Purposes: HEAL brings people together in an effort to eliminate health care inequities and disparities through advocacy, awareness, education, and leadership. To this end, HEAL implements programs that 1) support reform in becoming an ethnically, culturally, and social justice organization, 2) naming and addressing inequities, unintentional bias, and other social, economic, and environmental forces that create health inequities, 3) develop, implement and provide guidance on health equity training, practice, and policies, and 4) Invest in communities by linking the Formal Health System with the Informal Health System.

HEAL was able to deliver more than 6000 Basic Life Support (CPR) and First Aid to those who most vulnerable and marginalized( Community of Color, Immigrants, and Low Socioeconomic). Through our partnerships with Access, USA STEM, Whole Systems Learning, Wesley's Methodist Church, Words Alive, Learn4Life, Save A Life Foundation HEAL was able to provide much-needed services that have the potential to save 10x the people who went through our classes.

Health Education Advocacy Leadership, Inc. has been able to provide healthcare services including, primary care services, preventive medicine, lab services, wound care, health education, and referral services to those lacking health insurance or having inadequate insurances throughout San Diego, Riverside, and San Bernardino County. HEAL's healthcare services have been able to provide direct health care services to the homeless population in collaboration with Wesley's Methodist Church, Patient Advocacy Services, National University, Access, and Whole Systems Learning. Total, we had 5000 unduplicated services.

Through our Healthcare Career Academy and community health workers programs (PATHEWAY (Promoting Access to Healthcare Education & Workforce Among Youths) and ICARE (Immigrant Community Advocate Representative Education; A Community Health Worker Education Program), HEAL has been able to outreach, educate, and engaged indirectly more than ten thousand individuals. Services were provided to low socio-economic communities, immigrants, non-English speakers, African Americans, Hispanics, and the Asian Population. HEAL provided in-services, outreach, assistance with applying and submitting application for technical schools and colleges, translation services to students and parents who speaks English as a second language, education on financial aids, health professions entrance requirements, promotion and awareness in health literacy, and creating a portfolio and ePortfolio as part of their college and career application. The overall goal of the program is to inform, educate, motivate and promote various healthcare professions to the under-served, under-represented, and socioeconomically disadvantaged population of Riverside and San Diego County. HEAL was effectively and efficiently able to deliver a minimum of 12 career fair/events and workshops to middle and high school students within Moreno Valley, Perris, Hemet, City Heights, El Cajon, Escondido, and Chula Vista. HEAL was able to meet our main goal; to inform, educate, motivate and promote various healthcare professions to the under-served, under-represented, and socioeconomically disadvantaged population of Riverside and San Diego County. In addition, we developed and implemented a community health workers program, targeting minority and the immigrant population. ICARE (Integrated/Immigrant Community Advocate Representative Education: A Community Health Worker Training Program) focuses on education, performance management and supervision, developing and providing tools and job aids, ensuring a manageable and coordinated workload, which is implemented around the Triple AIM outcomes and providing incentives and a financial stipend. This training utilized a unique and tested teaching philosophy. Each course and module utilizes co-trainers. One trainer has real-life experience working as a Community Health Worker and the other has content knowledge and expertise. Together the co-trainers delivered content that is most appropriate for the participants. Co-trainers from the community are able to bring real-life case studies and community problems to the training. Additionally, the adult learning theory was utilized throughout the delivery and implantation of all educational materials, recognizing that the adult learner brings with them many life skills and experience. The goal of this training is to improve the competencies of Community Health Workers. We combined distance-learning (online) techniques with traditional (classroom) style teaching to form a hybrid program. In addition, providing interprofessional service-learning opportunities. Through this program, HEAL was able to train 90 trusted key stakeholders within San Diego and Riverside County. These community health workers were able to apply what was learned and provided much-needed health care services and education to their communities. This program was effectively able to link the informal health system with the formal health systems. It must also be said, as a result of these programs HEAL was able to link with individuals we would otherwise not.
