Organizations Filed Purposes:
PROMOTING RESPONSIBLE RECREATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP
Trail Maintenance Program - During this Fiscal Year, we continue to be the largest on-the-ground volunteer trail maintenance program in the Sequioa National Forest and BLM Lands. We have performed much needed work on 238 miles of trails including clearing hundreds of downed trees, maintaining water bars, and brushing tens of miles of trail. This work included maintaining Stewards Adopt-A-Trails, and building new trails working alongside BLM in the Keyesville Management Area.
Trail Preservation/Trail Advocacy Program - During this Fiscal Year, we engaged with the Forest Service to help draft the Sequioa Forest Plan Revision. This includes submitting substantive comment letters to help ensure recreation opportunities are preserved, maintained, and expanded to meet current and future needs. Additionally, we engaged with the Forest Service to reopen the peppermint camp areas. We also worked with the BLM on the completion of the Keyesville Management Plan. We also worked with educating Legislators on recreation programs and on legislation affecting recreation. We continued to push for the completion of the Piute Travel Plan with the Forest Service.
