Organizations Filed Purposes: The Delaware Multicultural and Civic Organization DEMCO, Inc. is a non- profit organization dedicated to the ideals of providing clients with an experienced staff and team of consultants in the area of elementary and secondary education, adult literacy, social and professional higher education, and continuing education. It is the goal of DEMCO to heighten and promote educational, economic and social stability through the provision of such tutorial services, academic programming, social and economic development. Our unique focus as an urban, grass-root, minority-owned corporation gives us a vantage point specially suited to reconcile everything from urban to contemporary issues through our full range of qualifications and experiences. Parent and Theater Night DEMCO's Parent and Theater Night featured its Cultural Health Ambassadors' Program CHAP in which two AAU basketball teams, Delaware's Finest All Stars and Team Finesse participated in a violence and substance abuse prevention competition. The competition involved the performance of an Anti-Violence, Anti-Bullying and Anti-Substance Abuse play titled, The Clock written by a DEMCO Academy student. Books and Basketball DEMCO partnered with Central Middle School to conduct a program titled, Books and Basketball. The program enrolled 45 young men between the ages of 11 - 15. These young men competed on the hard-court and in the classroom in subjects including reading, violence prevention and substance prevention. Music Production for Prevention DEMCO partnered with Black Cat Logistics for a Music Production for Prevention program. This program afforded 12 of our youth to learn the production side of music as well as create a CD with 5 songs with violence prevention, substance prevention, and academic excellence themes. The students were also the principal artists on the songs. The CDs were distributed and performed throughout the community. Hoops for Hunger and Prevention DEMCO partnered with Men of Vision and Value M.O.V.V. to host a Hoops for Hunger and Prevention event at William Henry Middle School in hopes that young men will understand that the path of a good man is a positive one that yields incredible results not only for the individual but also for their family and the community. DEMCO provided prizes to participants and attendees for their participation in a substance abuse and violence prevention program that was conducted prior to the event, during intermission and halftime of the games. The program included written and open dialog exchanges on substance abuse and violence facts and statistics, as well as providing literature to the community. Holidays for Prevention DEMCO had an offsite event to celebrate the Holiday Season. Parents and student siblings, friends and Community members were invited to attend on Dec.21, 2015. Students had prepared a program that included anti-drug and violence poems, essays, spoken word presentations and testimonials to highlight their statistical and decision making knowledge, that will help them make informed and positive decisions when confronted with Substance Abuse and Violence issues. Some of the students had written and memorized their messages in poetry forms and recited their work with pride. Others used scenarios to do Spoken Word presentations. Artist for Prevention DEMCO, in partnership with the Biggs Museum of American Art, presented Anit-Violence and Substance Abuse Prevention Narratives, Impressionism and Social Realism art at its Biggs Museum Art Exhibit. This captivating exhibit featured artwork as well as narratives in the form of collages created by our students. This art exhibit was a tribute to impressionist painters, Vincent Van Gogh and Social realist artists such as Gustave Coubet, Ben Shan, Jack Levine and Jacob Lawrence.

Guiding Good Choices GGC: GGC is a drug use prevention program that provides parents of children in grades 4 through 8 9 to 14 years old with the nowledge and skills needed to guide their children through early adolescence. It seeks to strengthen and clarify family expectations for behavior, enhance the conditions that promote bonding within the family, and teach skills that allow children to resist drug-use successfully.

nShape Prevention Plus Wellness: Is a brief intervention program designed to reduce drug abuse and increase positive mental and physical health outcomes among college students ages 18-25. This program was administered this program to Delaware State University DSU students.
