Organizations Filed Purposes: FOUNDED IN 1899 AS THE HEBREW AID SOCIETY, TODAY OUR AGENCY IS KNOWN AS JEWISH FAMILY SERVICES OF DELAWARE (JFS). JFS' MISSION IS TO STRENGTHEN INDIVIDUALS, FAMILIES AND THE COMMUNITY BY PROVIDING COUNSELING AND SUPPORT SERVICES, BASED ON JEWISH VALUES. JFS PROVIDES SERVICES WITHOUT REGARD TO RELIGION, RACE, SOCIO-ECONOMIC STATUS, SEXUAL ORIENTATION OR SPECIAL NEED.

JFS PROVIDES OUTPATIENT BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES USING STRENGTH BASED APPROACHES AND EVIDENCE BASED THERAPEUTIC INTERVENTIONS FOR INDIVIDUALS, COUPLES, FAMILIES, AND SUPPORT GROUPS. JFS' CLINICAL STAFF IS TRAINED AND EXPERIENCED IN TREATING CHILDREN, YOUTH AND ADULTS COPING WITH MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES, SUBSTANCE ABUSE ISSUES, CO-OCCURRING DISORDERS, AND A PLETHORA OF OTHER SYMPTOMS SUCH AS ANGER MANAGEMENT, TRAUMA, GRIEF, ADHD, EATING DISORDERS, GENDER ISSUES, BORDERLINE PERSONALITY DISORDER, SELF-INJURY, DEPRESSION, ANXIETY, AND BI-POLAR DISORDER. *PSYCHIATRIC EVALUATION AND MEDICATION MANAGEMENT SERVICES ARE AVAILABLE AT ALL JFS FACILITIES. IN 2019 OUTPATIENT BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES REACHED 1,171 INDIVIDUALS.

JFS PROVIDES CARE MANAGEMENT SERVICES TO VULNERABLE POPULATIONS SUCH AS OLDER ADULTS, AT RISK YOUTH, REFUGEES, EMIGRES, AND SINGLE PARENT HOUSEHOLDS. JFS IDENTIFIES THEIR COMPLEX NEEDS, INCLUDING ACCESS TO RESOURCES TO ENSURE CONTINUED INDEPENDENT LIVING IN A SAFE ENVIRONMENT. JFS' CARE MANAGEMENT SERVICES OFFER NAVIGATION OF SYSTEMS SUCH AS ENTITLEMENT PROGRAMS, HEALTH INSURANCE AND HEALTH CARE, AND OTHER SUPPORT SERVICES. CLIENTS RECEIVE COUNSELING, NEEDS ASSESSMENTS, INDEPENDENT LIVING PLANS, WELLNESS MONITORING, AND EXTENSIVE CASE MANAGEMENT. IN 2019 CARE MANAGEMENT SERVICES REACHED 457 INDIVIDUALS.

JFS PROVIDES YOUTH AND FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICES THAT INCLUDE LIFESKILLS AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS. PROGRAMS INCLUDE MEDIA MATTERS, A VIDEO EDUCATION/PRODUCTION PROGRAM; FUTURENET AND FUTURELINK, A WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT AND PLACEMENT PROGRAM; PREVENTION EDUCATION AND YOUTH ADVOCACY UTILIZING A STRENGTH-BASED CURRICULUM AND POSITIVE PERSPECTIVE SO CLIENTS CAN INCREASE THEIR SELF-CONFIDENCE, POSITIVE BEHAVIORS, AND LIFE-LONG SKILLS. IN 2019, 628 INDIVIDUALS WERE SERVED BOTH ON-SITE AT JFS FACILITIES AND THROUGHOUT THE STATE IN SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITY SETTINGS.
