THIS MISSION IS IN SERVICE OF A BOLD VISION THAT ONE DAY THE DIVERSITY OF THOSE OCCUPYING OUR NATION'S HIGHLY-SKILLED JOBS AND HIGHEST LEADERSHIP POSITIONS WILL BE AS RICH AS THE DIVERSITY OF OUR POPULATION.
PREPARE TALENTED LOW-INCOME, AFRICAN AMERICAN, AND LATINX STUDENTS FOR OUR NATION'S TOP COLLEGES.
COLLEGE ACCESS AMBASSADOR TRAINING (STRIVER PROGRAM): HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARS OF COLOR PARTICIPATE IN WEEKLY, FULL-DAY SATURDAY SESSIONS DURING WHICH THEY COMPLETE TWO COLLEGE-LEVEL COURSES EACH YEAR, IMPROVE THEIR MATHEMATICS SKILLS, AND GAIN WORLD-CLASS KNOWLEDGE ON COLLEGE ADMISSIONS. SCHOLARS ARE INTRODUCED TO TOP REGIONAL LEADERS AND EXPOSED TO EXCEPTIONAL EMPLOYERS IN THE AREA (ALL FIELDS). EACH SCHOLAR MEETS WITH HER/HIS ADVISOR SEVERAL TIMES THROUGHOUT THE ACADEMIC YEAR TO ENSURE THAT THEY ARE COMPETITIVE IN THE COLLEGE ADMISSIONS PROCESS AND THAT THEY ARE ON-TRACK FOR EXCEPTIONAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES. FOR 2018-19, THE DE PROGRAM SERVED 80 SCHOLARS AND THE NJ PROGRAM SERVED 35 SCHOLARS. OF THE GRADUATING SENIORS, 100% WERE ACCEPTED INTO AND PLANNED TO ENROLL IN A FOUR-YEAR COLLEGE. 95% WERE ACCEPTED INTO ONE OF THE NATION'S TOP 238 COLLEGES.
DELAWARE GOES TO COLLEGE ACADEMY (DGCA): THE GOAL OF THE DGCA IS TO HELP STUDENTS GAIN ADMISSION TO COLLEGES THAT ARE THE BEST ACADEMIC AND FINANCIAL FITS WITH THE INTENT OF INCREASING COLLEGE GRADUATION RATES AND EMPLOYMENT OUTCOMES. WE DO THIS BY PROVIDING HIGH-QUALITY ACADEMIC ADVISING AS WELL AS ASSISTING STUDENTS WITH THE COLLEGE APPLICATION PROCESS. FOR THE 2018-19 ACADEMIC YEAR, DGCA SERVED 250 STUDENTS.
COLLEGE SUCCESS PROGRAM (CSP): TEENSHARP'S COLLEGE SUCCESS PROGRAM SUPPORTS ALL SCHOLARS THROUGH THE TRANSITION AND MATRICULATION PROCESS TO COLLEGE TO ENSURE THAT EVERY STUDENT ACTUALLY LANDS ON THEIR SELECTED COLLEGE CAMPUS. CSP CONTINUES TO WORK WITH SCHOLARS THROUGH EVERY YEAR OF COLLEGE AND HELP ADDRESS EVERY BARRIER/OBSTACLE THAT THE STUDENTS ENCOUNTER. THIS IS ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH SCHEDULED CALLS, FREQUENT TEXTS, AND OCCASIONAL FACE-TO-FACE MEETINGS (ESPECIALLY DURING COLLEGE BREAK SESSIONS).
