Organizations Filed Purposes:
THE IOWA 4-H FOUNDATION PROVIDES FINANCIAL RESOURCES FOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT THROUGH 4-H. THE IOWA 4-H FOUNDATION PROVIDES DIRECT AND INDIRECT PRIVATE FUNDING SUPPORT FOR THE IOWA 4-H YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM, A PROGRAM ADMINISTERED STATEWIDE BY IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY EXTENSION AND OUTREACH (ISUEO). CURRENT 4-H PROGRAM PRIORITIES INCLUDE: HEALTHY LIVING, STEM, LEADERSHIP & CIVIC ENGAGEMENT, AND COMMUNICATION & THE ARTS. ADDITIONALLY, THE 4-H FOUNDATION FUNDS OPPORTUNITIES THAT PROMOTE AND ENHANCE THE IOWA 4-H EXPERIENCE. THESE INCLUDE: FACILITY IMPROVEMENTS AT THE CLOVER WOODS CAMP AND RETREAT CENTER (CAMP); COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS; STATE PROJECT AWARDS; NATIONAL RECOGNITION TRIPS; VOLUNTEER AWARDS; AND PROGRAM/EVENT FEE ASSISTANCE.
CLOVER WOODS- THE IOWA 4-H FOUNDATION WAS CREATED IN 1949 WITH THE ORIGINAL PURPOSE TO COLLECT DONATIONS FOR AND SUPPORT A STATE 4-H CAMP. THE FOUNDATION OWNED THE CAMP PROPERTY AND FACILITIES. THE FOUNDATION MAINTAINED AND IMPROVED THE CAMP'S FACILITIES: FIVE VILLAGES THAT COULD HOUSE OVER 300 YOUNG PEOPLE,ROPES COURSE, CLIMBING TOWER, ZIP LINE, ARCHERY AND SHOOTING RANGE, A SWIMMING POOL, AND TORNADO SHELTER. FOUNDATION SUPPORT ALLOWED 4-H YOUTH TO USE THE CAMP FOR OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES AND PROGRAMS, ACCESSING HIKING TRAILS, A POND, AND OUTDOOR ADVENTURES ON 1,000 ACRES ALONG THE DES MOINES RIVER. THE CAMP PROPERTY WAS SOLD IN DECEMBER 2019.
COUNTY SUPPORT - 4-H PROGRAMS EXIST IN EVERY IOWA COUNTY, AND THE FOUNDATION RAISES MONEY TO ENHANCE THESE LOCAL PROGRAMS. COUNTY SUPPORT, INCLUDING PROVISION OF COUNTY ENDOWMENTS, ASSISTS WITH FUNDING FOR CLUB PROGRAMS, PROVIDES GRANTS FOR 4-H COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS, AND CONTRIBUTES FUNDING FOR OUT-OF-COUNTY AND OUT-OF-STATE EXPERIENCES.
STATE 4-H PROGRAMS - FUNDING FOR STATE-WIDE 4-H PROGRAMS PRIORITY AREAS INCLUDING STEM, LEADERSHIP & CIVIC ENGAGEMENT, HEALTHY LIVING AND COMMUNICATIONS & THE ARTS PROVIDE LEADERSHIP AND EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR 4-H'ERS ACROSS IOWA.
